• If you're ready for a challenge, we have one for you! Make your own movie! That's right. Just you. Find a video camera or a smartphone with video capabilities and shoot your own movie. It doesn't have to be long. Start with an idea and work it into a basic script. You can get help from friends or family members, if necessary, but try to do as much as you can by yourself. What story do you want to tell? Where will your movie take place? Have fun creating your own unique piece of motion picture art! When you're finished, upload your homemade movie to the Wonderopolis SchoolTube channel, so all your Wonder Friends can see it!

• Have you ever seen the movie Avatar? Released in 2009, it was a very popular science fiction movie known for its incredible special effects. Go online to check out the full listing of cast and crew for Avatar. The list goes on and on! As you read down the list, try to make a guess as to what some of the people did. Many of the titles or jobs will be unfamiliar. Did you ever imagine it would've taken this many people to make a Hollywood blockbuster? Would you like to see your name on a movie's credits some day? Why or why not? What job do you think you'd like to do on a movie set?

Wonderpolis Activity 1

• Now that you've learned about how many people it can take to make a movie, why not enjoy some of their work? That's right! It's movie night! Pop some popcorn and choose a movie to watch with your friends and family members. It can be an old favorite or a movie you've never seen before from television. Or you could rent one at a local video store or borrow one from your local library. When the movie's over, though, don't just switch off the television. This time, watch the credits roll. Try to count all the people involved in the making of the movie. How many people did you count?
